The Kurdish Jews mostly lived in small groups, both in villages and towns. In mountainous areas they were engaged in animal and crop farming. In cities, their main occupations were various crafts (jewelry, dying, tanning, carpentry), common among women was carpet weaving and making woolen articles. Women worked on a par with men; the women’s input in the family well-being was considerable. Kurdish Jewish men highly respected the women.
