The kokoshnik is a typical women's headdress from the Vologda province, known by other names, such as "sbornik," "morshen," "borushka," and "povoynik." Its rigid frame was typically covered with silk fabrics, gold or metallic thread embroidery, glass, pearls, beads, and mother-of-pearl.
