Woman’s sled (kördad’): Two-skid, skewed-stanchion, with 4 pairs of stanchions bent forward and rearward; the turned-up front ends of the skids are connected with a crosspiece. The woman’s sled differs from the man’s one in its larger seat area and in its taller stanchions. Apart from the back wall, it could be made with side walls at the seat. Fixed to the walls were bows forming a dome-like base, onto which a dad’veizh, a fur canopy, was placed. In front of the seat a small boarded deck was provided, on which the kood birch bark box was placed. It was used by women during migrating: they put the potan, a bast baby cradle, fur travel bags, and travel sacks (padko) under the fur canopy. In the the kood birch bark box they carried the woman’s festive clothing. Abstract by A.A. Chuvyurov
