In a heavy frost and for the journey, the Nganasans and Entsi wore a sokui, a closed-up garment with a hood. It was made of deer hides, fur outside. A plume of a deer’s tail was worn on the hood, which was a distinctive emblem of the Entsi and Nganasans. A sokui of white hides was worn also for hunting: it was less visible against white snow.
