Flensing knives for butchering whale carcasses differed not only in the shape of the blade, but also method of fixing on a long handle. The shank of a knife with a leaf-shaped, steel, double-edged or sickle-shaped blade with a one-sided blade was fixed on a wooden handle by means of a metal thin pipe. Abstract by V.V. Gorbacheva
