A pear-shaped wooden zakidushka, or small anchor fixed to a long belt of sea mammal skin, formed part of the set of hunting weapons among the sea coast Chukchi or Eskimoes. With sharp metal hooks fixed on the thick wooden base part, the hunter hitched on the carcass of a ringed or bearded seal killed in late autumn or winter, and pulled them ashore. Abstract by V.V.
