Son, fur coat. Part of women’s festive costume. Girls and married women put on the costume consisting of the fur coat, footwear, and numerous silver decorations for Yssyakh, the summer kumiss feast, and for wedding. The fur coat was adapted for riding; it had broad tails and a big rear slit from waist to hemline. Clothing made of expensive materials (silver, fur, or silk fabrics) indicated its owner’ wealth and well-being. Abstract by M.V. Fedorova
