The right to wear silk and brocade clothing, as well as the use of blue fabrics in costume, was considered a privilege of the nobility. A characteristic feature of the robe of a married woman of the Transbaikal Buryats was its composite sleeves: the lower part, from the elbow to the cuff, was always made of a different color fabric. At the shoulder, the sleeves were gathered, forming puffs. The sleeves ended in hoof-shaped cuffs. Buryat women usually wore the cuffs turned up; they were only lowered for the New Year's festival of Sagaalgan.
