The traditional Evenki costume consisted of a caftan with flaps that did not meet together (“Tungus tail-coat”), a plastron, headgear, and footwear made deer fur and suede. It was a light garment, which did not restrict movements during fast walking. The caftan’s back ended in a long triangular tip used as groundcloth for sitting on ice, stone, or frozen earth.
