Annotation:

Made from trimmed deerskin in the shape of an apron reaching the knees, with strings on the neck and at the waist. The plastron is decorated with bead-embroidered geometric ornament. Attached to the lower edge of the plastron are straps with strung beads. Next-to-skin Orthodox crosses with an image of the Calvary cross played an important role in the plastron’s décor. Baptized Evenki regarded the crosses sewn to the plastron not as decorative elements but as objects protecting the plastron owner against evil ghosts causing illness. Abstract by V.V. Gorbacheva
