It is a strip of dressed deer skin; the outside is decorated with multicolor embroidery. Attached to the bandage ends on strings with blue and white beads are two small purses decorated with bead embroidery, at the bottom of which are threads of glass beads with little metal rings. To the bandage’s lower edge, 8 Orthodox next-to-skin crosses are attached on strings with strung red beads. It was believed that such crosses “protected” against evil ghosts causing illness.
